Shine While Remaining a "Team Player"

Do your coworkers help you when you need it? Do you return the favor? On the job, everyone is mainly concerned with getting paid to do their own work.  

It's true, you are required to complete your own work each day, however, and the main goal as an employee is to function as part of an organization. It can be tricky to make sure your complete your own tasks and operate as a team player.  

Here are some helpful tips to be a valuable team member and still remain a stand-out: 

·     Avoid conflicts. Office gossip, politics and rumors are known for sparking bad feelings. Avoiding these situations is best.  

·     Keep open lines of communication. Communicating clearly with your coworkers can help everyone reach their goals. Be sure to speak up and let others know if you have too much on your plate and need help. Likewise, offer to help others when you can. 

·     Treat others the same way you like to be treated. Always remember that you are there to work with your coworkers as a team and that benefits everyone in the end.
